WASHINGTON — Balancing work and life is a challenge faced by many, but politician Kamala Harris seems to have found the perfect equilibrium by spending her free time on an original “fan-fiction” novel set in the universe of Battlestar Galactica.
Growing up as a devoted fan of the original TV series, which ran from 1978-1979, Harris would spend hours dreaming about the show's intricate plotlines and sprawling, unknown galaxies, and as she moved through her career, her admiration for the series never waned.
Now, with a day job that requires minimal attention, Harris — whose day job is Vice President of the United States — can indulge in what she refers to as her “nerdy hobbies.” The book, titled The Cylon Resurrection is nearly finished.
"It's incredible to see her find the time and energy to pursue her artistic passions, even while holding down an office job,” said a source close to Harris. “And her book is pretty good, especially for diehard fans.”
As she continues to balance her work and artistic pursuits, Harris serves as a shining example of how to make the most of one's downtime. Even her boss, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, has noticed her effort.
“POTUS has expressed interest in reading her book,” said the source close to Harris. “It’s just a little tough for him right now, since he goes to bed around 6 or 7, and is a lot busier during the day than she is.”
