SPARTA, MI — Vice Presidential candidate J.D. Vance said at a campaign appearance today that Springfield, a small city in western Ohio, has in recent days been invaded by a pack of dozens of bomb-sniffing dogs.
"They're everywhere," Vance exclaimed. "Sniffing around our schools, parks, and even local businesses. It's like living in a war zone."
Mr. Vance offered dubious explanations as to why Springfield, an otherwise peaceful town until just last week, faced an influx of dogs that are specially trained to detect explosives and other dangerous materials.
“Democrats are allowing these dogs to roam free through our communities,” Vance said. “The dogs are looking for explosive devices and detecting threats to the safety of the citizens of Springfield, instead of respecting our freedoms.”
The Ohio senator concluded his remarks without commenting on whether or not the canine invasion was related to the recent surge of journalists into Springfield since last Monday.
